About the Item
Artist Comments
I took a six month hiatus from painting to have personal refection. I planned to go as far as the end of the year, but after the tragic events in Charlottesville, I knew I had to return to the process. This painting is the first piece from the hiatus. My works endeavor to further my pursuits to embody the paradox of doubt, mourning, delight, and beauty.
About the Artist
Wes Sumrall began painting at a young age and enjoys observing nature. As he explains, his work involves studying the nature of light by subduing the nuanced color variations instilled. He has been greatly influenced by Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Claude Monet. When he's not painting, he enjoys backpacking, going to music venues, working out and spending time with friends.
