About the Item

Sharks are awesome for the contrasts they can present. Beauty, power, grace and yet can be ferocious killing machines. The idea of something big, fast, and dangerous that can sneak up on you is terrifying. And yet, it is fascinating too, simply because of its danger. That's what sharks are. To humans, the ocean is almost another planet. We can't live in it. We can't survive in it. But these creatures can and do and rule the seas. They adapt to temperature, depth, population with an ease that we, as humans, envy. They seem emotionless; just machines continually on. But the more we study them and the more we learn we find so many more levels. They each have their own language. The way they swim, the way they hunt. Some are almost friendly and others very shy. They don't mind the occasional human interloper. Some are territorial. They are quick and easily pissed off. But they are all beautiful. They all move with grace and purpose. They are perfectly adapted to their environments. They help to create and keep our oceans the fantastic biologically diverse places they should be. Sharks are the guardians of our waters. They deserve our respect and our appreciation. They are a riddle wrapped in mystery inside an enigma. And that's why we love them.
