Boyle Family
Study of Cobbles with Mud, Tyre Tracks & Stones, Lorry Park Series

1974

About the Item

Mark Boyle and Joan Hills, who met in Yorkshire in 1957, became a collaborative husband and wife double act. They were joined on this project by their two children Sebastian and Georgia. Boyle Family works simulating asphalt roadways or, in this case, muddied cobblestones used resin, fibreglass and other binding materials. The effect was hyper real, a situation that took photorealist painting in the tactile direction of sculpture.
