Ravi Chaurasiya
Population with Garbage

2018

About the Item

The city we live in today. We can call it a city of buildings, of people. In this work, the garbage stack can be in the surroundings of your city. Chaurasiya experiments with his mediums, using unconventional materials like matchsticks and motherboards to create a cultural commentary on our decaying natural surroundings. His works are visualizations representing various dimensions of pollution, climate change, population, and phenomena contributing to a deplorable dystopia.“With the excessive use of technology at their disposal, humans today have lost some vital connection with the other sentient beings and the environment at large.” he says.

  • River can change its colour, River can change its course
    Located in Stamford, CT
River is often associated as the sustainers of life and fertility, the irreversible passage of time, and a sense of change leading to loss, and death. But in this work, a river is much more than water flowing to the sea. Shifting of course and changing color is a natural tendency, but sometimes it will be a strong erosional force that can devastate and disappear a human civilization. River picks its path and there's nothing individuals can do to stop it. Female representation in my work takes its inspiration from One of the most iconic works of revolutionary painting...

    Located in Baltimore, MD
"Poise" is a framed mixed media work on canvas by Christopher Peter, depicting an abstracted silhouette of a standing female figure. The artist's technique of layering paints, handmade papers, and gold leaf creates a luxurious texture and adds visual interest to both the silhouette and the negative space. This piece is finished in a silver scoop floater frame with a whitewashed woodgrain effect on the frame’s interior and sides. Pricing includes the pictured frame. Unframed dimensions are 72 x 36 inches. About the artist: Christopher Peter was raised in Phoenix and received his formal art education at Arizona State University. He joined galleries across the US and presented his first international exhibition in 2017 at Miami’s Art Basel. Well known for using unconventional materials, Christopher’s work focuses on painting figures and floral elements. Combining and blurring the boundaries between these disciplines, a personal narrative is created between the viewer and the work that hints at the artists’ ultimate goal of using painting...
