Andrew Scheglov
Classroom Revisited

2023

About the Item

In this original artwork of oil on paper the artist returns to a motif of the classroom, which is a part of an ongoing series of imagery that draws on the diasporic private and collective memories of immigrants from Soviet Russia. Formally, the piece draws inspiration from post-impressionist masters like Gaugin and Van Gogh, while the subject matter takes us back to a non-descript point in late 80s Russia.
