Label, verso, with title 'Trouville', artist dates, and inscription, 'Voiliers près de la côte bretonne' (Sailboats near the Brittany coast). Framed dimensions: 19.75 H x 26.25 W x 1.5 D inches A mid-century, Impressionist oil showing a group of sailing boats leaning into the wind off the coast of Brittany near the resort town of Trouville. A fresh and breezy seascape by this French Impressionist painter who was born in Besançon and painted with Emilio Grau-Sala and Maurice Brianchon. Nourry specialized in portraits and figural works and is also known for his landscapes of the Jura and Provence. The artist is well-listed in Benezit's definitive dictionary of painters and sculptors. (Vol X. p.284)
