About the Item

This is an original unique oil painting by the artist. A Twilight River Landscape by Karl Heffner (1849 – 1925), signed K Heffner (lower left). Oil on board, from an English estate. Karl Heffner was born in Würzburg, Germany in 1849. Interested in the arts from a young age, Karl first studied music and furthered his creative abilities when working and travelling with English art dealer Wallis. Heffner then went on to study art at The Academy of Munich School of Paintings. Revered by his masters A. Stademan and A.G. Lier for being one of the greatest exponents of the school, he was made an honorary member of the Academy, also obtaining the Prince Regent title of professor. Heffner’s work focused both on realism and impressionism whilst working extensively with an oil medium. His paintings depict dramatic and beautiful scenes of panoramic landscapes that Heffner had visited throughout his lifetime. Heffner’s work has been exhibited all over the world including Vienna, Munich and the Royal Academy and Grosvenor Gallery, London.
