This enchanted landscape painting was made by upstate New York based artist, Regina Quinn, in 2023. The artist captures a serene winter landscape with dramatic white clouds swirling in a crisp blue sky above a hillside. Blankets of white snow reflect the pale blue sky evoking a sense of calm. The composition is made with a background of watercolor which is then built up with translucent layers of encaustic. Oil paint is often mixed in with beeswax on top of the encaustic, giving her work added vibrancy and a luminous glow. This painting is complemented with a Larson Juhl floater frame with wire backing. It's in an excellent condition, signed by the artist, and ready to hang.
Artist statement about the piece:
"The radiant edges of day, veiled in mystery, quiet like a held breath yet energized by the tensions between shifting darkness and light; these are the inspirations for my work. Rooted in my sense of awe and deep connection to the natural world, my paintings are an expression of my love and sense of stewardship for the fragile balance that allows life to exist and thrive on this planet."
More about Regina Quinn:
The elegance of a fallen leaf on the forest floor, the eerie glow as morning fog lifts, the dynamic tension between abstraction and naturalism – these are the inspirations for Regina Quinn’s encaustic and oil paintings. A New York City native, Regina divides her time between New York’s Catskill Mountains and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont where her work is influenced by the stark winters, lush springs, exuberant summers and vibrant autumns. Working in encaustics, she builds transparent and opaque layers, scrapes and scratches and incises to reveal and obscure, working towards the sense of awe and wonder she experiences daily in the natural world.
Regina holds a Special Studies in Fine Arts bachelor’s degree from Trinity College where she received the Peyser Art Award, first prize and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont. She has designed and painted sets for several Lyric Theater productions at Burlington, Vermont’s Flynn Theater for the Performing Arts and has worked as a muralist, graphic designer, and educator for 35 years. Regina is dedicated to sparking students’ creativity, innovation, and passion for environmental stewardship.

- City Glow: Cityscape Oil Painting of New York City in Pastel PaletteBy Patty NealLocated in Hudson, NYContemporary cityscape painting of New York City skyline with a light blue and green palette “City Glow”, painted by Patty Neal in 2019 18 x 18 inches on wood panel Wire backing, artist signature located in lower right corner This contemporary oil painting depicting a metropolitan view of New York City was painted by Brooklyn based artist, Patty Neal. Made with gestural impressionistic brushstrokes, this painting offers a view of the Manhattan skyline on a bridge through the window of a passing car. The mint green infastructure compliments the dusty blue and sandy oranges of the city in the background. This piece is traditional of Neal’s work which commonly highlights everyday city scenes, utilitarian infrastructure, and industrial or electrical apparatus. The cityscape scene is completed on wood panel with white painted sides. Artist statement: A life is an accumulation of experiences: visual, emotional and mental. By compartmentalizing these snippets of life we create boundaries. The focus of my work for many years has been the exploration of these various life aspects and how they are bound together or bound from each other. My process is often literally composed of boundaries. I make a painting by putting together multiple panels, or I segment a single panel into separate visual spaces. The works are made up of pieces or elements of city and landscape. While exploring the concepts of boundaries I play with visual “reality.” Sometimes I combine images that are upside down with those that are not and juxtapose images from different contexts. Literal boundaries, such as walls fences, expanses of water and highway median strips are also used. My intent is to invite viewers to look beyond these boundaries to see the possibilities of a connected whole.
