About the Item

Artist Commentary: Needed a break from some recent intense paintings so I created this simple picture in 6 hours... Keywords: Abstract, sea life, colorful, green, red, blue, yellow Artist Biography: Robert Crooker was born in Massachusetts in 1951. A life long Red Sox fan, he saw the likes of Frank Malzone, Yaz, George Scott, Rico, Jim Lonborg all play in years gone by. He has been married for over 27 years with 4 children, and 2 grandchildren. In the Mid-1970’s, Robert started collecting Vintage Disney Collectibles dated from the 1930’s and 40’s. His passion for collecting grew so rapidly that in the 1980’s it became a business. He bought and sold “DISNEYANA” worldwide, realizing thousands of dollars for single pieces of rare highly sought after Disney merchandise. Robert is the leading world expert on the values of these collectibles. As an adventure in American art, these rarities were created during a time when toy manufacturers had art departments employed with many artists that created some of the most beautiful children’s toys ever created. While running Disneyana – Mouse Man Ink business, Robert was painting acrylic on canvas. After EBAY came along and stole the show Robert went on a 20 year hiatus from collecting and painting. Upon his return to the painting studio, Robert was amazed to find that the time and distance actually sharpened his skills and improved his confidence.

Photorealism is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic media. An American art movement that began in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Photorealism evolved from Pop Art as a counter to Abstract Expressionism as well as Minimalist art movements. Though Photorealists share some aspects of American realists, such as Edward Hopper, they tried to set themselves as much apart from traditional realists as they did Abstract Expressionists. Photorealists were much more influenced by the work of Pop artists and were reacting against Abstract Expressionism. The word Photorealism was coined by Louis K. Meisel in 1969 and appeared in print for the first time in 1970 in a Whitney Museum catalogue for the show "Twenty-two Realists." It is also sometimes labeled as Super-Realism, New Realism, Sharp Focus Realism, or Hyper-Realism. The first generation of American Photorealists includes the painters Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Chuck Close, Charles Bell, Audrey Flack, Don Eddy, Robert Bechtle, Ron Kleemann, Richard McLean, John Salt, John Kacere, and Robert Cottingham. Photorealism's influence and popularity continues to grow, with new books such as Juxtapoz's 2014 book entitled Hyperreal detailing current trends within the artistic genre. • Aradhana-22, Acrylic on Canvas Red by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
    Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Anil Kumar Yadav - Aradhana-22 - 72 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism.
