About the Item

Portrait is an original artwork realized by François Chapuis in the 1970s. Pastel on paper; on the lower right corner, the artist wrote his initials in pencil (F.C.). Good conditions. The artwork represents a female face with blond hair. The portrait is linear and simple with some geometrical elements. The figure is realized with only three colors. The artwork is marvelous for the brilliance of the colors and the softness of the brushstrokes. The artist realized many portraits of this kind, showing a sense of refinement and mellowness. François Chapuis was a French artist. He moved to Nancy with his family, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. Later, he moved to Paris, where he studied at the Centre d'Art Sacré. He also created many glass windows for churches. His name is famous for the "mur lumière", connected with the application of different materials on top of a surface.
