Matt Flint
Matt Flint is a painter from the mountain town of Lander, Wyoming. He grew up surrounded by woods, animals, and family. As a boy, He spent endless days creating art and exploring the fields and woods around him. Now he spends time with his family, painting, and exploring the rugged wind, river and mountains that overlook his house and studio. Living in Wyoming has had a profound effect on his work. The space, sense of isolation, and wildness of the land continue to amaze, mystify, and inspire him. Flint’s works are known for their textural qualities and natural subjects. When he is not painting, he spends time mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowboarding. Flint's work is collected publicly as well as privately, including the Audax Theater Group, New York, New York; The Nicolaysen Museum of Art, Casper, Wyoming; The Scott Opler Foundation, St. Petersburg, Florida; The Wyoming State Museum, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Spink Butler LLC, Boise, Idaho.

- Summer RangeLocated in Denver, COLike the Westerns I grew up with, my own work is camouflaged in a veil of nostalgia. The figures in my work are often portrayed against a stark background. This forces the viewer to recognize the myth before the critique exposes itself. I work from observation and my imagination using watercolor and traditional printmaking methods. The figurative images I create are heavily researched. By using the West, a subject that I am both familiar with and continue to question, I aim to engage with our inherent perceptions of the past and the myths embedded within. - Jed Webster SmithCategory
