About the Item
Since my study time at the Krasnodar Art Academy I’ve always had a love for still life. It is especially his quiet simplicity that attracts me together with the focus on composition, lighting and color harmony. The beautiful gold color of fruits and their texture inspired me to create this work. The picture is painted on a quality 100% linen canvas with oil color of high quality. The painting technique is many-layer.

Irina Trushkova was born in Russia and graduated from the Faculty of Art of Krasnodar State University in 1987. She has been professionally engaged in painting since 1991. Having participated in more than 30 exhibitions and Art Fair her works are now represented in private collections in Russia, Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, the USA, France, Belgium, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Trushkova became a member of the Union of Russian Artists in 1995 and a laureate of the Culture and Art Scholarship of the Krasnodar Region Administration. Since 2004 she has lived and worked in Belgium. The traditional Dutch 17th-century painting inspired Trushkova because of its delicate and balanced approach to light, shadow, and color nuances. She mainly uses a multi-layered technique. Even if their process is slow and complex, it makes it possible to accentuate light effects, various textures, and, last but not least, transparency. "I paint still life compositions in oil. Observing solely from life I aspire to capture the movement of light as it reveals both the object and the surroundings, creating a sense of serenity and quiet. The search for balance and harmony in the composition is vitally important for me. The objects in my still life can be often very usual and simple: jugs, fruits, bowls, or flowers. It's wonderment about things and visual information that l want to strengthen in my works. I invite the viewer to re-enchant in the world around us, to discover the short but really precious moments of life. Seizing the incredible beauty of life is my deepest vocation." - Apples and Glass, super real, illustionistic, colorful contemporary still lifeBy Douglas NewtonLocated in Brooklyn, NYOil paint on canvas Doug Newton’s hyper-real paintings observe reality, explore translucency, reflections and luminosity, and dazzle the viewer with all the ways light can transform our perceptions. His subject matter concentrates on still lives of food, toys, candy and household objects. In addition to many group shows across the country, Mr. Newton’s show, “HARD CANDY and other confections” represents his fifth solo exhibition. His paintings have been collected in numerous private collections. Mr. Newton resides in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Sonia Coman writes in her essay, Doug Newton’s hard candy: the confection of painting Doug Newton’s paintings are about… painting. The hyperrealist technique of trompe l’oeil or “trick the eye” is knowingly playful. It simultaneously calls attention to the illusion of a different material—for example, translucent candy wrappers—and the reality of the layers of paint, masterfully applied to the canvas. In that, Newton’s paintings pay homage to an esteemed series of trompe l’oeil masters, from Inquisition-era Spanish painter Francisco de Zurbarán to Gilded-Age American painter William Michael Harnett...Category
