This work was inpired by the memory of a pleasant walk with friends to discover Princess Grace’s rose garden in Monaco. I wanted to grab the moment capturing the sun, the colors and the perfumes, a potpourri of happiness where one immerses oneself in the well being that such a place offers. The large size of the diptych makes you want to enter the place. The old olive tree has been simplified, its foliage and the sky are one, so it looks like a sentinel watching over the roses. Convinced by the positive impact that nature has on the quality of our lives, through my art, I wish to transmit this myriad of beneficent feelings. Ms. Wen resides in New York City as a full-time artist. She has exhibited nationally and internationally since the early 1980s. She was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She received her BFA from Washington State University, MA, and MFA from the State University of New York at Albany. In 1979, she won the First Prize in Painting in the Ten Outstanding Young Talents Competition in Taiwan. In 1980, she was awarded Outstanding Merit in the Young Artists in Asia Now competition in Hong Kong.
