About the Item

"Dinner is Served," a grand 68" x 58" piece by Steven Rehfeld, invites viewers into a scene that beautifully merges the traditional with the abstract. Set against the backdrop of a monochromatic, architecturally rich room, the canvas is dominated by tones of cool grays, whites, and stark blacks. The meticulously detailed arches and pillars suggest grandeur, reminiscent of historical or perhaps even sacred spaces. The centerpiece — a simple table holding a plate of bright yellow fruits — stands out, a beacon of organic color amidst the geometric surroundings. The juxtaposition of the animate and the inanimate, the vibrant and the muted, creates a narrative tension. Rehfeld plays with light and shadow, with the gleaming surface of the table contrasting the deeper, elusive corners of the room. In "Dinner is Served," Rehfeld offers not just a meal, but a feast for the eyes and the soul, challenging the boundaries of still life and abstraction. Steven is now one of the top emerging artists in the U.S. His works are groundbreaking, bold, and imbued with unflinching disregard for painting conventions. Many works are in collections and museums in the U.S. Steven is also part of the 'Outsiders' school of art, originating in France in the 19th century. Also known as the Naïve movement, and was comprised of people with no art training at all, who suddenly started to paint. Many of them are from very challenging backgrounds. All they had was talent that had never before been tapped. In no time this movement became a major art phenomenon and spread all over the world. His work, however, has branched out past the movement and his use of earth elements renders a basic and raw interpretation of his message. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal. Original, one-of-a-kind. Shown at The American Art Gallery, Carmel-By-The-Sea, California.
