Italian Art # 1 is a black and white photo shoot made by the Italian artist Edoardo Montaina.
Fine-Art Print on Canson Baryta Photographique paper.
Signed, numbered and titled in black ink on the center of the paper. From an edition of 9 specimens, plus 2 artist's proofs. In excellent conditions.
Montaina builds a new image from two details of two masterpieces of Italian art: the legs of Paolina Borghese by Antonio Canova and the legs caught in midair by the Baroque genius of Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the group of Il ratto di Proserpina.
This asymmetric image, strongly contrasted, and halfway between the abstract and the figurative, is the result of research on the concept of symmetry, so dear to the artist.
