About the Item
Unique silver gelatin print (photogram made sans enlarger); Mixed process triple exposure with spinach, ice, sand, glitter, and flowers; Exposed via dripping candle. From my brand new "The Many Rings of Saturn" series, which was just completed a few weeks ago. [All of my prints are signed and dated on the back; film-based prints are editioned as well.]
Printed August 2022; Made without the use of a camera.
I think of all my darkroom prints in terms of what they are and what else they can be, and refer to them as spiritual landscapes for the most part; I began making photograms sans enlarger due to having an unfinished darkroom at the time of the shutdown. 2+ years and 4 bodies of work later, my self-invented processes found me bringing more and more of the land into the darkroom, and my photograms began to morph into alternative process (spiritual) landscapes. [And are also what I do for work, as this is one of the only processes I teach that translates well online, as well as in-person.]
[My processes have gotten pretty out there over the past couple years, and this particular photogram, was actually the first one I made while testing out SPINACH as a photogram material.]
Please note that the video and detail shots were shot in less than ideal lighting (and space was tight). I am happy to do zoom print viewings for those who would like to see a closer look.
