“I heard about the rodeo in my friend's small Colorado county, I knew I had to go and see it for myself. I wanted to see what the local western culture was all about.
As I arrived at the dusty rodeo grounds, I was struck by the sheer energy and excitement of the event. The air was thick with the smell of hay and horses, and the sound of cheering crowds filled my ears.
But what really caught my attention were the people - the cowboys and cowgirls who had come from all over the world to compete in this event and how much of adrenaline junkies they have to be. I mean it’s life or death in there.
As I wandered through the crowds, camera in hand, I was struck by the sense of community and camaraderie that seemed to pervade the rodeo. People from all walks of life had come together to celebrate their shared love of this gritty, authentic way of life.
And as I began to capture images of the cowboys and cowgirls in action, I am always amazed by the sheer physicality, skill, and determination that is involved in rodeo. From the tense moments as a rider prepared to mount a bucking bronco, to the explosive burst of energy as horse and rider burst out of the gate, every moment was full of tension and drama and I could feel it from behind the scenes.
But what really drew me in were the moments in between - the quiet moments of reflection and preparation as riders and their horses gathered themselves for the next challenge. “ - Addison

Addison Jones is a Midwest-based multi-disciplined artist. She is an advertising photographer, fine artist, and creative director.
Through the lens of her camera, she translates geography, culture, and architecture into a universal language, crafting complex narratives without the need for words, and using light to illuminate emotion.
The daughter of creatives, Addison’s family moved frequently when she was growing up to follow her parents’ careers. Today, she remains just as nomadic—now following her own curiosity and intuition to new places in search of inspiration.

Addison Jones
Addison Jones is a world-class photographer and mixed-media artist based in the Midwest.
Jones uses her street art and mixed-media style to portray models from her own modern portrait photography. The result culminates in moody, sensual, and contemplative mixed-media art focusing on the humanity of the subject. Each of her pieces are original works.
Addison is known for layering her own photographs into complex street art and using the written word as a subtle texture feature. She utilizes silver and gold leaf, acrylics, and custom paints, including color changing, to add layers upon layers as she goes. In the end, it culminates in a piece that is viewed as a complex whole.
Jones begins each piece with a photograph from her own portfolio, and then free flows through each element, drawing inspiration as she works. She often says that her style often leads to mistakes that later become some of the best parts of the piece.
