About the Item
Unique silver gelatin print (photogram made sans enlarger); Mixed process multiple exposure made utilizing what was then a new self-invented process with sand. Made with flowers, sand, and glitter; Exposed via firework led.
I began making photograms with alternative light sources due to having an unfinished darkroom at the time of the shutdown; it has since become something I specialize in. "Octopus" was actually made with 3/4 of a sheet of paper and started out as a test of a brand new process, but I quickly fell in love with the image. From my "Metamorphosis" series, which has actually received quite a few awards.
I think of my photograms more in terms of sculpture, as I not only build them up layer by layer (sometimes mid-exposure), but literally work my materials as well. Further, as a spiritual printer (with a minor in philosophy), all of my images are about more than what might be obvious at first glance. Titles are based on what I see in the images, but I'd LOVE to know what you see in them...
