This one of a kind photo arrangement titled "Mickey Donuts" is printed on 100% rag paper by Candice CMC paper size measures 39x31". Framed size Approx. 46.5 x 38.5". The Photographic arrangements of Candice CMC receive an immediate response on the part of the viewer. The work consists 616 sharp-focus photographic images of donuts. Candice CMC uses the the donuts as her palette, as if she were creating the portrait with oil paints. Candice first photographs the donuts and then studies the characteristics of each so that she can arrange them according to their tones, colors, values and intensity to create the iconic portrait. She chooses the correct placement of just the right donut for each area of the artwork. The art was created to appear as a pop art image of hundreds of random donuts. The WOW factor comes when you go to look at the artwork through your phone camera and see the portrait appear.
The delicious images consist of hundreds of photographs of real donuts, meticulously arranged by color and texture to produce these iconic faces. By photographing hundreds of enticing donuts in varying flavors and colors and using them as her palette, Candice has created iconic portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Einstein, Alfred E. Neuman, Van Gogh, and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, among others. By composing these complex portraits, Candice is forging a unique style of photography and creating unique, one of a kind, works of art.

Candice CMC
At a distance, the portraits created by Candice CMC are merely Pop art-informed depictions of iconic celebrities and tributes to the work of revered artists such as Picasso and Vermeer. A closer look, however, reveals a careful arrangement of sweets and delicious treats. The New York-based artist’s pieces are made up of hundreds of sharply focused images of everyone’s favorite coffee accompaniment: doughnuts.
In what could be considered doughnut Pointillism with a meticulous approach reminiscent of Chuck Close’s work, each pastry in Candice CMC’s portraits is photographed separately and then studied for its color, tone and intensity. The artist then places each image in an evenly spaced grid to make up the desired portrait.
Some of Candice CMC's large-scale compositions include images of over 1,000 doughnuts with glazes, sprinkles, frosting and other tantalizing toppings. Over the years, she has focused on a wide range of subjects such as Albert Einstein, Marylin Monroe, Batman villain the Joker and Vincent van Gogh.
Candice CMC’s work has been presented at fairs and galleries around the United States, including Claude’s Gallery in Southampton, Art Market Hamptons and the White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton. Her work is held in corporate and private collections all over the world.

The Belgian artist Carmen De Vos is a slow photographer. She registers, portrays and thinks up odd stories. She shoots Polaroids to frame these mental escapades, they get so easily out of hand. She enormously longs for what she’s afraid to loose: real human contact, the slowness of being and creating, the tangibility of materials. Almost without exception she uses old Polaroid camera’s, long time expired film and self-made filters. Her tools and methods - such as film bleaching and deliberate film obstruction - are not precise and are not even geared towards a perfect representation. They often yield results - such as colorisation, deformation, unsharpness - which she could never have predicted on forehand with any certainty, because their flaws do not allow for calculation. She’s not in control. She fights the material. She plans, stages and directs but the decayed chemistry and off-focus lenses add their magic. All by themselves. Which merrily surprises her. Or ruins her image. This battle attracts her as much as it frustrates her. She loves to create within these limitations, to try to produce the best possible image within the narrow circumstances given. Luckily, she’s a sucker for imperfections.
