A stylistic precursor of such artists as Pierre et Gilles and David LaChapelle, James Bidgood revolutionized gay male erotic imagery. From a cramped Hell’s Kitchen tenement apartment during the 1960s, the artist produced the bulk of his creative output of photographs. The artist was the first to take the pulp and glamour aesthetic of the 1940s and 1950s and apply it to male erotic fantasies: employing vibrant colors and exaggerated props and costumes to celebrate homosexuality and the male form in an explosion of colorful eroticism that has stood the test of time.

James Bidgood
One of the quintessential creators of homoerotic imagery, filmmaker and photographer James Bidgood produces unique and instantly recognizable works infused with a vividly colorful sense of fantasy and theatricality. Drawing on his background as a dressmaker, costume designer, and drag performer, Bidgood conjures the exotic world of his photographs from scratch, creating works with a heightened artificiality and high camp sensibility. In Bidgood’s photographs, naked or scantily clad young men, often covered in a glistening sheen of Vaseline, pose in lurid landscapes of the imagination while draped over beds or in fields of flowers and dressed as glittering matadors or pointy-eared fauns. Combining vibrant colors, dramatic lighting, and baroque sets, his photographs bring to life a feverish, dreamlike fantasy world one step removed from reality. He has become a major influence on figures such as David LaChapelle and Pierre et Gilles. Estate represented by CLAMP in New York City.

- Donkey BasketballBy Luke SmalleyLocated in New York, NYDigital C-print Stamped and numbered, verso 20 x 24 inches (Edition of 10) 30 x 40 inches (Edition of 5) This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Luke Smalley was an American artist known for his photographic work, which pairs a coolly minimalist aesthetic with a retro nostalgia. Images from his early in his career were inspired by fitness manuals and yearbooks c. 1910. This is not surprising since Smalley graduated with a degree in sports medicine from Pepperdine University and worked for a number of years as a model and personal trainer. Smalley shot the bulk of his photographs in his home state of Pennsylvania, using real high school athletes as models. “Exercise at Home” is Luke Smalley’s second major body of work. Shot in and around the tiny Pennsylvania town the artist called home, Smalley revisits themes of adolescent growing pains acted out under the guise of earnest athleticism. Teenagers engage in simple yet strange competitions meant to establish their standings amongst one another. Two youths practice boating...Category

- Untitled (Leah)By Joshua LutzLocated in New York, NYDigital C-print (Edition of 10) Signed, dated, and numbered, verso 30 x 35.5 inches, sheet 22 x 27 inches, image This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Joshua Lutz is an American artist working with large-format photography and video. Lutz began photographing the Meadowlands ten years ago as a a documentary study of the 32-square-miles of marshy wilderness that sits between New Jersey and New York (while ostensibly searching for the remains of Jimmy Hoffa). Over the years, however, this project evolved into a compelling artistic exploration, revealing the soul of this liminal space. Lutz was given his first solo exhibition at Gitterman Gallery during the summer of 2004. In 2008, “Meadowlands,” was published as Lutz's first book, with powerHouse Books. In essayist Robert Sullivan’s introduction to the monograph, he describes the Meadowlands as “. . .that giant swath of swamp and space that separates New Jersey from New York City, or, put another way, from New York City and the rest of the United States of America.” “The New Yorker” wrote: “Joshua Lutz takes the New Topographics...Category

This was the same session from which the back cover photo for the Revolver Album was chosen. The photo was part of a series taken by Robert Whitaker during the filming at Abbey Road on 19 May and demonstrated the Beatles’ adoption of fashions from boutiques that had recently opened in Chelsea, rather than the Carnaby Street designers they had favored previously. From these Chelsea boutiques, Lennon wore a long-collared paisley shirt from Granny Takes a Trip...Category
