About the work:
Chad Kleitsch uses scanograph technology to capture his intimate subjects, be it a flower, a sheer nightgown, a child’s bib; is placed on the scanner and backlit with a high intensity light that penetrates through the object as though it were a sheet of film or slide, reproducing an effect like that of a stained-glass window. This process is also explored via Works on Paper, including a handwritten letter by Emily Dickinson, a hand addressed envelope by Mary Cole (Thomas Cole's daughter), and choreography notes by dancer Lucinda Childs...

This contemporary photograph of an abandoned theater interior was captured by New York based photographer, Elliott Kaufman, in 2005. Here the artist highlights the beautiful fading facade of the once renowned Capitol Theater in New London, CT. The photograph is complimented with a custom white wood frame measuring 31.5 x 41.5 inches. There is wiring on the back for installation.
About the series:
Elliott Kaufman conveys the haunting magnificence of forgotten buildings in the Abandoned series. Architectural marvels once home to heartbreaking operas, spectacular gatherings, or a loving family now sit vacant and linger in fading memories of the past with each new crack of paint, crumbling brick, or falling beam. Through his lens, Kaufman captures the remnants of these majestic structures, romanticizing what once was for viewers in the present day. This series won 2nd place in the ASMP National Competition.

About the Artist:
Marco studied fine art at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. New York Times photography critic Gene Thornton called Marco “a Minimalist, whose images are sensual, whimsical, often surreal, always strong, and deceptively simple.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil Marco on a number of my films. Phil is a man of extraordinary talents. It seems that his passion is to take an everyday object or event, and show it in an entirely new and exciting way.”

Phil’s work is represented in MOMA, The Museum of the Moving Image,
and The George Eastman Museum of Photography.
His first photographs were studies for his paintings, before he launched a career in print advertising. He eventually became a Director / DP for film and television for a vast base of national and international clients with his wife Patricia as Partner and Producer. In the 1980’s and 90’s Phil was the go to person for Special Effects in Television and Cinema, also best known for his graphic conceptual still lives, and his consummate mastery of lighting, and design. This contemporary photograph of an abandoned theater interior was captured by New York based photographer, Elliott Kaufman, in 2005. Here the artist highlights the beautiful fading facade of the once renowned Capitol Theater in New London, CT. The photograph is complimented with a custom white wood frame measuring 41.5 x 31.5 inches. There is wiring on the back for installation.
About the series:
Elliott Kaufman conveys the haunting magnificence of forgotten buildings in the Abandoned series. Architectural marvels once home to heartbreaking operas, spectacular gatherings, or a loving family now sit vacant and linger in fading memories of the past with each new crack of paint, crumbling brick, or falling beam. Through his lens, Kaufman captures the remnants of these majestic structures, romanticizing what once was for viewers in the present day. This series won 2nd place in the ASMP National Competition.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marco studied fine art at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. New York Times photography critic Gene Thornton called Marco “a Minimalist, whose images are sensual, whimsical, often surreal, always strong, and deceptively simple.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil Marco on a number of my films. Phil is a man of extraordinary talents. It seems that his passion is to take an everyday object or event, and show it in an entirely new and exciting way.”

Phil’s work is represented in MOMA, The Museum of the Moving Image,
and The George Eastman Museum of Photography.
His first photographs were studies for his paintings, before he launched a career in print advertising. He eventually became a Director / DP for film and television for a vast base of national and international clients with his wife Patricia as Partner and Producer. In the 1980’s and 90’s Phil was the go to person for Special Effects in Television and Cinema, also best known for his graphic conceptual still lives, and his consummate mastery of lighting, and design. He’s won many awards for his work, including numerous Cannes Lions, Cleo’s, a Grammy for his print work on the legendary “Tommy the Who...
