About the Item

La Vague (The Wave). Original color lithograph, 1971. Edition of 100 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. Alexander Calder is one of the most important kinetic artist form America. Although primarily known for his sculpture, he also created paintings and prints, miniatures, theater set design, jewelry design, tapestries, rugs, and political posters. “My whole theory about art is the disparity that exists between form, masses, and movement.” He named much of his work in French, like this one, regardless of where they were meant to be displayed. In the 1930. Calder visited Piet Mondrian’s studio, after which he seeks influence in Mondrian’s colors and geometry in Calder’s artwork. We see here typical Mondrian’s colors: red, yellow and blue, and black lines, which define geometric shapes in motion.

  • Horse Ride-Green, Violet, Brown
    By Joan Miró
    Located in Ljubljana, SI
Horse Ride-Green, Violet, Brown. Original color lithograph, 1969. Edition of 75 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. Joan Miró was a famous Spanish Catalan surreal painter, sculptor and ceramicist, but he also created graphics, large installations and murals. His radical style for that time was a contribution to the early-20th-century avant-garde and complete abstraction later. Early fauvistic works showed the influence of Cézanne, in cubist compositions, but also a reference to the avant-garde interests of the painter. Few years later he started to change his artistic approach over the magic realism to surrealism. His surfaces become abstract and stayed like that until the rest of his career. Miró’s mature style evolved from the tension between his fanciful, poetic impulse and his vision of the harshness of modern life. The artworks are reflections of his subconscious mind, filled with pictorial signs, biomorphic forms, geometric shapes, and abstract and semi-abstract objects. He worked extensively in lithography and produced numerous murals, tapestries, and sculptures for public spaces. Miro’s composition...

Original color lithograph, 1983. Edition of 150 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. Art and Sport portfolio: The Yugoslav Olympic Committee of the Winter Olympic Games Sarajevo 1984 wished to give a certain cultural-artistic accent to this world festivity. The admire of the Olympic idea, those who have a liking for the Olympic winter sports and the art connected with them will be, in agreement with the art publisher Visconti Art Lazo Vujić, honored by creations contributed by world known prominent artist. A portfolio containing sixteen original prints, handsigned and numbered by the artists, is published in a limited edition of 200 originals by each artist. Names like Dorazio, Folon, Greco, Helnwein, Hodgkin, Hwang, Kolar, Moore, Paladino, Pistoletto, Rosenquist, Santomaso, Stupica, Twombly and Warhol guarantee the high quality of the artistic idea and its realization. The size of the original print is 85 x 62 cm. The edition of the original graphic portfolio will be accompanied by limited editions of art posters of the same size, not numbered, but each of them carrying an impression of the inscription “Olympic Games Sarajevo 1984” and its logotype. The themes proposed by the artists are either winter sports, the Olympic idea or the town of Sarajevo. All the artists remain faithful to their own specific expression, using the formal elements of the language developed through the years of their creative presence in world’s art. So every print included in the portfolio is at the same time a particular contribution to the continuity of their artistic orientation, the theme being an additional iconographic impulse to their visual research. The symbiosis of the Olympic idea and art is certainly an interesting creative proposal that will fascinate art-collectors and sport-lovers as well. Howard Hodgkin was a British painter and printmaker, famous for his abstractions. He became a prominent artist for painting on wooden supports such as drawing boards...
