Artist book (10 original aquatints with 2 etchings), 1972. Edition of 95 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper.
Edvin John Victor Pasmore was a renowned abstract contemporary artist from Britain. He was a very lyrical and poetic painter of still life and landscapes, who later became an abstract artist, producing collages, constructions and paintings. His early works were influenced by Monet and Cézanne, and his later break into abstract art was inspired by the artists Piet Mondrian and Paul Klee. Characteristic of all his artwork was a natural gift for lyrical expression on the one hand and a tendency to theorise about the nature and purpose of painting on the other. “I felt the picture has to be an independent object in its own right, not a representation of another object.” – he once said. This artistic book contains both graphics with abstract depictions and poems with philosophical thoughts.
