About the Item
Engraving by Frederick Stacpoole after a 1867 painting by Briton Riviere, this work depicts a melancholy wintry scene of a dead lamb lying in the snow; a singing robin perched on a nearby branch is a hopeful sign of spring to come. Published by the Fine Art Society, London, April 1877.
