Large original advertising lithograph poster by Charles Loupot (perfect provenance from his own private collection).
"Stop-Fire" is an original lithograph poster designed by Loupot for the company Stop Fire which made fire extinguishers, adapted especially for automobiles. To show its power and effectiveness, Loupot transforms it into a simpler and more familiar object - a candle snuffer : a more powerful and minimalist treatment than the earlier 1925 version for the same company. The poster is in condition A and is linen backed with a 3cm margin. An incredibly arresting and colourful work of art.
Charles Loupot (1892-1962) . From the 1979 Loupot exhibition at the Musée de l'Affiche in Paris to the recent survey " Loupot, Painter of Posters " at the Museum of printing in Lyon, there has been new interest and appreciation of this artist's work. Throughout his long career as an artist Loupot developed from a sensitive commercial portraitist to a radical experimenter with forms, styles and techniques, culminating with his masterpiece " Lion Noir ".
Loupot produced work over such a long period that he spanned many styles including the wonderful art nouveau and art deco periods.
This is a beautiful example of art-deco with its classic angular lines, strong design and vibrant colours. A lovely size with great impact.
