Claes Oldenburg
Screw Arch Bridge (State II)

1980

About the Item

Oldenburg was not really interested in making original prints until the late 70's when he went to Amsterdam and saw the prints of Rembrandt and Hercules Seghers. The "Screw Arch Bridge" was one of his first serious forays into printmaking. State I was a straight line etching. In State II Oldenburg added aquatint to give the image tone and depth.
