Etching on wove paper.
The plate is part of the Third Edition of "Los Caprichos" that has been published in 1868 by the Calcografia Nacional for the Real Academia. The entire series includes 80 etchings. Plate number 27. Titled on the lower margin "¿Quién más rendido?" (Who is more submissive?).
Excellent conditions.
Nobody is more surrendered than the smooth-hearted gallant, infatuated for a beautiful and frivolous lady, disposed to thousand slushes: the passion for women achieves more surrenders than the enemy's weapon.

Francisco Goya
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His works often contained a social message, like in his "Disasters of War" series. Immensely successful in his lifetime, Goya is often referred to as both the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. He was also one of the great portraitists of his time.
