Manlio Guberti Helfrich
Player in Wheat Field - Woodcut by Manlio Guberti Helfrich - 1970s

1970s

About the Item

Player in Wheat Field is a woodcut print on ivory-colored paper realized in the 1970s by Manlio Guberti Helfrich (Ravenna, 27 Marzo 1917 – Castelnuovo di Porto, 12 December 2003). Hand-signed on the lower right. Numbered on the lower left edition of 8/50 prints. Good conditions. The artwork through expressionistic characteristics is realized as a whole admirable kind, that shows two figures in the wheat field, the thick and bold strokes together with negative spaces which are adequate with the technique of woodcut all refer to one of the best examples of Post-expressionistic style inspired by a strong element of expressionistic movements: in which the image of reality is distorted in order to make it expressive of the artist's inner feelings or ideas and capturing emotions and feelings, rather than what the subject actually looks like.
