About the Item

This original etching and aquatint is hand signed in pencil by the artist "David Hockney" at the lower right margin. It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 200, at the lower left margin. There were also 35 artist’s proofs hand signed and numbered with Roman numerals aside from the standard edition of 200. This composition is the 15th from the series of 20 for “The Blue Guitar”. This work was printed by Maurice Payne of the Petersburg Press, London and was published by Petersburg Press, London in 1977. The title is stamped in ink at the centre of the lower margin, verso. Other impressions of this subject are held in the collections of Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York and The National Gallery of Art, Washington.
