About the Item

Original Caribbean South America Holland America Cruises vintage poster. S.S. Rotterdam and the S.S. Statedam cruise ships. Artist: David Klein. Archivally linen-backed and ready to frame. In excellent condition. Note that his poster was printed with a shiny surface. David Klein was the notable artist that created most of TWA’s travel posters. He did create a small series for the Holland America cruise ships. This image features everything you would find on a visit to the Caribbean and South America. You have your sun with a lobster meal, colorful dancers, fruit baskets, rainbows, champagne, and tour guides. Very few of the posters created for the cruise line survived, and finding one in excellent condition is even rarer. This poster will add color to any room where it is displayed. Uplifting and fun, visiting the Caribbean will be a focal point and inspiration. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.

  • Lotus
    By Maki Hino
    Located in New Orleans, LA
Hino creates a still life of a lotus from an edition of 65. A prominent figure in Buddhist and Egyptian culture, and native flower for both India and Vietnam, the lotus holds enormous symbolic weight. It spans various thousand-year-old Eastern cultures and yet, is still considered one of the most sacred flowers today. So what is it about this mysterious blossom that people find so enrapturing? Its colorful bloom is an obvious suspect, but the lotus also has a life cycle unlike any other. With its roots based in mud, it submerges every night into murky river water, and—undeterred by its dirty environment—it miraculously re-blooms the next morning without residue on its petals. Although cultures have their own interpretations of this daily process, there is a general consensus among ancient texts...
