Robert Indiana
Highball Redball Manifest

1997

About the Item

Highball on the Redball Manifest is a hand-signed and numbered limited edition screen print from the American Dream Portfolio printed in 1997. The work is based on the painting of the same title which was painted in 1963. Robert Indiana's grandfather worked on the railroad, as did his father for a short time. Per Indiana, "Highball on the Redball Manifest" was an old railroad term for the signal, "All clear for a fast express." He also went on to describe the painting as a "head-on view" of an old steam locomotive - with the address '25 of his 2nd Coenties Slip art studio in NYC emblazoned on the engine. Framed dimensions are 29.75" x 26.75. This work is floated in a black wood frame with black matting under UV plexiglass.
