Rollin McGrail
"Divot Stomping" by Rollin McGrail

About the Item

Art Sz: 10"H x 8"W Frame Sz: 17 3/8"H x 15 1/4"W Limited edition #2/50 Artist: Rollin McGrail (b.1956-) Rollin McGrail’s trademark images are recognizable both for style and content. Her work is agile, playful, formal and wry — largely conceptual and at the same time lending an air of whimsy and grace to some of the most prosaic of subjects. Images often kindheartedly lampoon the rich while harkening back to the era of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thorn Smith’s Topper series, the films of Nick and Nora and the early New Yorker cartoons of Peter Arno. Rollin has exhibited in galleries from Paris to Barcelona to New York to Key West and in Wellington, FL and the greater Palm Beach County. The bulk of her production has been aimed at national newspapers, magazines and book publishers. For years her weekly illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The International Herald Tribune (Paris office), and The Detroit Free Press. She also has been a frequent contributor to Vanity Fair, Newsweek, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, Glamour, Esquire, GQ, Vogue and Nickelodeon among many others. Her illustrations have appeared in best-selling books including Toasts (Crown Publishing), The Please of your Company (Clarkson N. Potter) and Bright Hunting Morn: The 125th Anniversary of the Radnor Hunt (Derrydale Press), to name a few. She also has received several distinguished awards in publishing. The artist hails from New York and attended art school in England, graduating from Parsons School of Design, New York. She creates her one-of-a-kind illustrations in her studio in the heart of her colorful Wellington, FL home.
