The Likes of Us
Located in New York, NY
Maya Hayuk The Likes of Us, 2017 Screenprint with spray paint in colors on Arches paper Signed, numbered 91/100, dated, and titled in pencil along lower edge. Accompanied by COA hand signed by the artist. 20 × 15 inches Unframed This work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the artist. Excellent condition. Published by the artist; Printed by Haven Press, Brooklyn, New York More about Maya Hayuk: Maya Hayuk is a Ukrainian-American artist with an extensive background in a wide range of generative art and social practices. Hayuk weaves visual information from her immediate surroundings into elaborate, painterly abstractions, thus creating an engaging mix of referents from popular culture and advanced painting practices alike. Her large-scale, improvised murals speak to the artist’s obsession with symmetry, “perfect imperfection” and outer/ inner space. Her works look to expanding consciousness and perception to find patterns and interconnectivity. Ultimately, the traditional and the contemporary blend into new harmonic, dissonant, optimistic, experimental compositions. Hayuk considers her studio painting and mural practices as both inversely relational and symbiotic. Hayuk’s work has been the subject of one person exhibitions and commissions at venues including FRAC Museum in Dunkerque, FR (2019), The Ukrainian Museum New York (2017), The Bowery Wall, NY (2014), The Hammer Museum, LA (2013), The Museum Of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada (2013), Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, The Netherlands (2012); Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens, New York (2011); Musee E.A.V., Rio De Janiero, Brazil (2011); Matucana Artspace, Santiago, Chile (2009); Democratic National Convention, Denver, Colorado (2008); and Monster Island, Brooklyn, New York (2005-2011). Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as Streetopia, The Luggage Store, San Francisco (2012); Black Light & Outer Space, Secret Project Robot, Brooklyn, New York (2011); Rojo Nova, Museum of Image and Sound, Sao Paolo, Brazil (2010); Contemporary Art 2010, Ukrainian Institute of America, New York (2010); Sous l’es bombs, Musee International des Arts Modeste, Sete, France (2007); The Zine Unbound: Kults, Werewolves, and Sarcastic Hippies, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA (2005). In 2018, Hayuk gave a TEDx Talk from The Center of Art and Design (CAD) in Brussels, Belgium, which recounts the arc of her developing career. Maya Hayuk’s work is represented in numerous public and private collections internationally including FRAC Museum (FR), The Ukrainian Museum (US), The Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art (Brussels, Belgium), The Embassy of the United States of America (Sanaa, Yemen), The Embassy of the United States of America Residence (Costa Rica), MOCA Jacksonville (FL), The Ullens Foundation (Brussels, Belgium), The Dean Collection (US) and Wayne Coyne...

Living Painting - Colour Pochoir
Located in Collonge Bellerive, Geneve, CH
Sonia Delaunay Full-page, colour pochoir after costume designs by Sonia Delaunay Edition 331/500 copies on Velin Aussedat Dimensions: 28.5 x 19.5 cm. From 27 Living Paintings. [Milano, Edizioni del Naviglio, 1969]. Jacques Damase. Robes Poèmes, Introduction. Text by Guillaume Apollinaire and Blaise Cendrars. Sonia Delaunay was known for her vivid use of color and her bold, abstract patterns, breaking down traditional distinctions between the fine and applied arts as an artist, designer and printmaker. Born Sarah Stern on November 14, 1885 in Gradizhsk, Ukraine, she was adopted in 1890 by her maternal uncle, Henri Terk, a lawyer in St. Petersburg, where she grew up, exposed to music and art, and learning several foreign languages. In 1903, she moved to Germany to study drawing with Ludwig Schmidt-Reutler (1863–1909) at the Karlsruhe academy of fine arts; Arnold Schoenberg (1874–1951), composer-to-be, was among her classmates there. In 1905, she traveled to Paris where she attended art classes at the Académie de la Palette, learned printmaking from Rudolf Grossman (1889–1941), and met Amédée Ozenfant (1886–1966), André Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884–1974), and Jean-Louis Boussingault (1883–1943). Sonia spent much of her time at exhibitions and galleries in Paris, which showed works by Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre Bonnard, and Edouard Vuillard, as well as Les Fauves, Henri Matisse and André Derain. She did, however, maintain contact with Germany, exhibiting at the Galerie Der Sturm, Berlin, in 1913, 1920 and 1921. During her first year in Paris, Sonia met the German collector and art-dealer, Wilhelm Uhde (1874–1947), whom she married on December 5, 1908, and whose Montparnasse gallery, the Galerie Notre-Dame des Champs, showed her first solo exhibition. Through Uhde, Sonia encountered many painters, including Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Maurice de Vlaminck, and Robert Delaunay (1885–1941). In 1910, Sonia divorced Uhde by mutual agreement, married Delaunay that same year, and gave birth to their son, Charles, in January 1911. Together Sonia and Robert Delaunay pursued the study of color, influenced by theories of Michel-Eugène Chevreul (1786–1889). Sonia’s interest in simultaneous contrast, as evidenced in her early collages, book bindings, small painted boxes...

Max Bill Composition with white center Color silkscreen Year: 1972 Edition: Edition for "Look at" Size: 23.3 × 23.3 inches Unsigned, unknown edition size (pres. ~2,000) - sometimes an edition of 2,000 is mentioned - this is not verified. COA provided *Framing options available. Please inquire. ------------------------------ (Geometric Abstraction, Minimalism, Constructivism) Max Bill (22 December 1908 – 9 December 1994) was a Swiss architect, artist, painter, typeface designer, industrial designer and graphic designer. Bill is widely considered the single most decisive influence on Swiss graphic design beginning in the 1950s with his theoretical writing and progressive work.[3] His connection to the days of the Modern Movement gave him special authority. As an industrial designer, his work is characterized by a clarity of design and precise proportions.[4] Examples are the elegant clocks and watches designed for Junghans, a long-term client. Among Bill's most notable product designs is the "Ulmer Hocker" of 1954, a stool that can also be used as a shelf element, a speaker's desk, a tablet or a side table. Although the stool was a creation of Bill and Ulm school...

Rare Albright Knox museum poster (hand signed and inscribed to renowned curator)
Located in New York, NY
Dan Flavin Dan Flavin at Albright Knox Gallery (hand signed and inscribed to renowned curator) Offset Lithograph. Hand signed and inscribed by Dan Flavin 18 × 22 inches Provenance: Estate of artist and collector Rick Collar Unframed Uniquely inscribed and hand signed 1972 Dan Flavin exhibition poster from his Albright Knox exhibition. Dan Flavin hand signs and inscribes it to Paulus Hendrik Hefting, the curator of the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The inscription reads: "Best regards and best wishes to you especially in "diagrams and drawings". What Flavin is referring to is the important exhibition also in 1972, "Diagrams & Drawings" curated by Hefting, at the Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller (Netherlands), which featured Carl Andre, Christo, Walter De Maria, Dan Flavin, Michael Heizer, Don Judd, Sol LeWitt, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Claes Oldenburg, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson. An extremely rare signed poster with a unique inscription to a major European curator referencing an historic Minimalist exhibition in the early 1970s. We may not see the likes of something like this anytime soon! Dan Flavin Biography From 1963, when he conceived the diagonal of May 25, 1963 (to Constantin Brancusi), a single gold fluorescent lamp installed diagonally on the wall, until his death in 1996, Dan Flavin (1933-1996) produced a singularly consistent and prodigious body of work that utilized commercially available fluorescent lamps to create installations (or “situations,” as he preferred to call them) of light and color. Through these light constructions, Flavin was able to establish and redefine space. Flavin’s first solo exhibitions were held at the Judson Gallery in 1961 and the Green Gallery in 1964, both in New York. His first European exhibition was in 1966 at Galerie Rudolf Zwirner in Cologne, Germany; and in 1969, the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, organized his first major museum retrospective. His work was included in a number of key early exhibitions of Minimal art in the 1960s, among them Black, White, and Gray (Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, Connecticut, 1964); Primary Structures (The Jewish Museum, New York, 1966); and Minimal Art (Gemeentemuseum, The Hague, 1968). Flavin’s work would continue to be presented internationally over the course of the pursuant decades at venues including the St. Louis Art Museum, Missouri (1973); Kunsthalle Basel (1975); Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam (1975); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (1986); and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (1992), among others. A major museum retrospective devoted to Flavin’s work was organized, in cooperation with the Estate of Dan Flavin, by the Dia Art Foundation in association with the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, where it was first on view in 2004. The exhibition traveled from 2005 to 2007 to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Hayward Gallery, London; Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris...

Jupiter 4
Located in San Francisco, CA
Artist: Rafael Bogarin – Venezuelan (1946- ) Title: Jupiter 4 Year: 1980 Medium: Screen Print Sight size: 19.5 x 25.5 inches. Sheet size: 22.5 x 28.5 inches. Signature: Signed lower right Edition: 295 This one: 116/295 Condition: Excellent Unframed This exceptional geometric abstract serigraph is by the noted Venezuelan artist Rafael Bogarin (1946- ). This is Jupiter 4. I have others from the series, also for sale. The print has never been framed and is in excellent condition. It measures 22.5" x 28.5". Rafael Bogarin is an established contemporary Venezuelan artist known for his abstract serigraphs. Bogarin was born in 1946, in El Tigre, where he grew up making his own toys and learning to draw. He studied in Caracas at the Cristobal Rojas School of Fine Arts, specializing in lithography and etching. From 1970 to 1992, Bogarin, like so many artists, lived in New York. As he explored various techniques, he became an expert in serigraphs, earning himself acclaim in Latin America as a pioneer. In South America he traveled the continent giving classes and learning about native cultures. When he returned to the land of his youth, he was inspired to create the concept of the entire world in the Museo Vial in El Tigre in 1982. Later he made others along the route between Colombia and Venezuela. Recently he has been creating and realizing ideas like the Museo de Murales a Cielo Abierto (Museum of Murals to the Open Sky). Detailed biographical information (source: artist's website): Rafael Bogarín was born in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, Venezuela, on January 20, 1946. He studied at the Cristóbal Rojas School, which he finished in 1966; Among his teachers are Luis Guevara Moreno, Pedro León Zapata, Luisa Palacios and Luis Chacón. Upon returning from school he founded the Zapato Roto group with other artists, with the aim of taking art to the streets. In 1966 he directed the outdoor exhibitions of the Venezuelan American Center, and two years later he participated in the XXVIII Official Salon, where he received the Rome Prize. During that time he ordered elements such as nuts and serrated blades in relation to discs engraved with burin and other techniques, and made the final impression in planes of one color. In 1970 he received a scholarship and traveled to New York; He studies at the Pratt Graphic Center and the Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. In 1973 he founded, together with Manuel Kohn, the Bogarín Printmaking Workshop, a workplace for Venezuelan artists living in the United States; This workshop, of which he has been master printer, allowed continuity to his artistic work. Bogarín investigates the possibilities of super eight cinema and makes films with quality similar to commercial formats; From these experiences emerge The Lonely World (1975) and New World Symphony (1976). In 1977 he deepened his study of color with The New Color, a portfolio where he produced superimposed colors through transparencies and glazes. His teaching experience includes courses at the Rafael Monasterios School of Plastic Arts in Maracay (1969-1970), Ceagraf (1979), as well as workshops in various cities around the world. In 1980 he made an exhibition of silkscreen prints in cities in Italy, El Salvador, Colombia, Mexico and the United States. That year he resumed his interest in outdoor exhibitions with a museum project with murals by 30 artists for El Tigre (Venezuela); The Rafael Bogarín Road Museum was inaugurated in 1982 and brought together 30 murals on 2 x 4 meter fences, by artists such as Mario Toral, Édgar Sánchez and Paul Davis. He carried out the project to recover the architectural spaces of El Tigre (Venezuela), through murals, sculptures, plazas and humanized spaces. In 2006 he painted the largest painted flag in the world in El Tigre, Venezuela. Bogarín has exhibited his work on all 5 continents and currently lives and works in Panama City in his private workshop and in the Articruz workshop. Individual exhibitions Ø 1966.
