Delphine Grandvaux"Yama", Three-Part Black Metal Hand-Woven Airy Wall Sculpture 2023
2023
About the Item
Titled "Yama", by Delphine GrandVaux, the sculptural forms of this artwork are elongated and cylindrical, ascending in grace, much like the tranquil rise of a mountain. It is a hand-woven homage of the iconic Mount Fuji as depicted in traditional Japanese paintings. Each part is meticulously crafted from black annealed iron wire, forming an abstract interpretation of Japan's revered Mount Fuji adorned with a snowflake motif on its peak.
This artwork is created for a wall setting. The dimensions of its three independant parts are respetively 37.4'' x 9.5'' x 9.5'' , 46.1'' x 7.9'' x 7.9'' , 53.5'' x 6.3'' x 6.3''
Delphine Grandvaux is renowned for her ability to infuse lightness and airiness into her creations, a testament to her unique artistic method that resonates with the meshing techniques of Ruth Asawa. Her work is characterized by the delicate interplay of metallic threads, occasionally complemented by light materials like wood and wool. Through Grandvaux’s skilled manipulation, these materials are transformed into voluminous, dynamic forms that capture the interplay of light and shadow, creating pieces that exude poetry, grace, and elegance.
