About the Item
Quebec Artist Paul Duval’s series of small figurative tabletop sculptures capture the essence of individual characters. Hand-shaped from wire and paper mache, each character is unique—this piece is a swimmer (baigneur) sporting a red bathing suit adorned with a few white dots (pois). The figure is sitting on a block of wood, hands on his hips, his head turned and held high suggesting an air of confidence.

Paul Duval is a member of the Canadian Sculptors Society and of the Conseil de la sculpture du Québec. He studied Monumental Sculpture at Université de Rimouski, casting at Maison des métiers d’art, Québec, and soldering at Cimic, Saint-Georges, Québec.
In addition to his full-time work as an artist, Duval is the Technical Director, at Symposium International de la sculpture, Beauce-Art, in Saint Georges De Beauce, Québec. Duval’s sculptures including commissions are in private and public collections in Canada and France.
