About the Item

The finely executed sculpture, depicting a young African man wearing a distinctive green hat on his head. This work belongs to the Venetian production of the early twentieth century with exotic subjects evocative of the Venetian Republic's colonial past. The ancient Venetian statue depicting a Moor symbolizes a servant holding a small oar in his left hand. The ancient moro rests on a gondola, which in turn rests on an octagonal-shaped base made of marbled wood Condition: Good condition. Provenance: 19th-century Venice. Measurements: 40x45 H155cm.
