Vasa Velizar Mihich
Jade Parallelogram

2017

About the Item

Vasa Mihich is a renowned Los Angeles based artist who is known for his sleek, colorful and captivating sculptures. His best works are composed of geometric planes of different colors suspended in acrylic. This work is a fantastic example of the mysterious "ombré" affect the artist has mastered. Dense shades merge into one another or disappear altogether depending on its position and lighting. Caviar20 has long championed Vasa Mihich's impressive pieces, from opened editioned pieces to major large scale sculptures and smaller vintage pieces. We particularly love the color exploration within this deep jade sculpture. Its parallelogram shape allows the varying shades of verdant green to be shown from different sides, angles, and lighting. Though monochromatic, this work still showcases Vasa's mastery of the prismatic ombré effect. This work is ideally sized and has major presence standing, whether on a plinth, desk or mantle, and equally fascinating on one its sides.

  • Village démocratie. Phases 1 et 2
    By Karine Giboulo
    Located in Montreal, Quebec
After visiting the underworld of overconsumption in "Made in China" (All you can eat and Electronic Village, 2008), Giboulo gravitates to a different aspect of economic globalization and urbanization in this work: the uncontrolled growth of slums (principally in the Southern hemisphere and the East), where the statistics are alarming. As life in the country becomes increasingly difficult, the migration of their agrarian people to urban centers regularly transforms the hopes and dreams of rural dwellers into a second nightmare. In truth, it is more accurate to speak of over-urbanization, of “slumization” - to borrow the term from the sociologist Mike Davis...
