Severo Amador for sale on 1stDibs

Severo Amador was born in 1879 at Villa de Cos, Zacatecas, Mexico. He studied painting in San Carlos with José Ma. Velasco, Santiago Rebull and German Gedovius. He obtained a scholarship to continue his studies in Paris but a disappointment in love prevented him from traveling, later he opened an Academy of Plastic Arts in Aguascalientes, where he was the teacher of Saturnino Herrán (1887–1918). Later he devoted himself to literature, returned to the capital and is part of the Bohemian Group. He also wrote Poetry: Let's go to the dance of Mexicapan, Carbunclos (1908), Cantos de la Sierra (1918), Las Baladas del Terruño, (posthumous edition 1931) Narrative: confession (1905), Provincial Tickets (1907), etc. Severo Amador had multiple personalities in the end, around 1928 he was Yorik Valencia, or the Count of Taka Makala. He entered the La Casta asylum (Mental institute) in Mexico City on three different occasions, where he presented different projects to the management, painting and giving guitar lessons to inmates and employees. He died of an ulcer in La Casta, Mexico City on February 18, 1931. Today his works are listed in America and Europe as fine samples of Latin American painting with great acceptance.

Finding the Right figurative-paintings for You

Figurative art, as opposed to abstract art, retains features from the observable world in its representational depictions of subject matter. Most commonly, figurative paintings reference and explore the human body, but they can also include landscapes, architecture, plants and animals — all portrayed with realism.

While the oldest figurative art dates back tens of thousands of years to cave wall paintings, figurative works made from observation became especially prominent in the early Renaissance. Artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and other Renaissance masters created naturalistic representations of their subjects.

Pablo Picasso is lauded for laying the foundation for modern figurative art in the 1920s. Although abstracted, this work held a strong connection to representing people and other subjects. Other famous figurative artists include Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. Figurative art in the 20th century would span such diverse genres as Expressionism, Pop art and Surrealism.

Today, a number of figural artists — such as Sedrick Huckaby, Daisy Patton and Eileen Cooper — are making art that uses the human body as its subject.

Because figurative art represents subjects from the real world, natural colors are common in these paintings. A piece of figurative art can be an exciting starting point for setting a tone and creating a color palette in a room.
