The engravings are characterized by different landscapes taken from works by the painter Claude Lorrain (Chamagne, December 16, 1600 - Rome, November 23, 1682), a French painter, active mainly in Rome and considered the master of the genre of the ideal landscape.

They remain in a nearly pristine overall condition. The same prints are carried in the permanent collections of the Winterthur Museum, the British Museum of Art and the National Galleries of Scotland; the original painting for the print with the bird's nest is also held in the permanent collection of the National Galleries of Scotland. Pichler's representation of van Huysum's iconic work was cherished for the exquisite tones and richly textured surfaces. They were completed in Vienna, Austria circa 1806 while the van Huysum paintings were still part of the Czernin collection. The pair are professionally hung in contemporary Dutch ebony...
