This pitcher is part of William Moorcroft's Green and Gold Florian line. In producing these wares, Moorcroft utilized a medieval ceramic technique of piping liquid clay onto an earthenware body to create designs in low relief. This process resulted in crisp designs of decidedly Art Nouveau inspiration which stood out against richly colored glazes.
