Charles Blondin was a French impressionist painter and print maker known for his depictions of Paris during different seasons. Born in 1913 in France, Blondin lived and painted Paris during the 1930's and 1940's and he was a member of the School of Paris, or Ecole de Paris and his most active period dates from 1928 to the 1950s. The Paris Etching Society and the Camilla Lucas Gallery published a colorful series of color etchings by Blondin of iconic views of Paris. His birth name is unknown as he took the name of Charles Blondin from the famous Jean-François Gravelet dit Charles Blondin (1824-1897) whom was a French tight rope walker who crossed the Niagara on a tightrope in 1859. The artist Charles Blondin died 1991.(Biography provided by Lilac Gallery Ltd.)
