Joel Shapiro Prints and Multiples
American, b. 1941
Shapiro creates abstract geometric sculpture that elicits a sense of movement and engages viewers’ physical and psychological relationships with space. In his recent investigations of the expressive possibility of form and color in space, the artist suspends painted wooden elements from the ceiling, wall, and floor, exploring the projection of thought into space without the constraint of architecture.
He has executed more than thirty commissions and publicly-sited sculptures in major Asian, European, and North American cities and has been the subject of more than 160 solo exhibitions and retrospectives internationally. In 2011, the artist energized the monumental forty-three-foot-tall gallery at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany with fifteen vibrantly painted wooden elements. his work has recently been exhibited at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas (2016); Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2017); the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven (2018); and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Wisconsin (2018). -Pace Gallery(Biography provided by Lincoln Center Editions)

Joel Shapiro, Untitled, abstract geometric limited edition etching, 1992
By Joel Shapiro
Located in New York, NY
Joel Shapiro's post-minimalist work often references the human body, in a variety of poses, represented by geometric forms. In Untitled, 1992, a rust-red rectangle supports three black rectangles piled at varying angles. The forms have light, sketchy lines around them, reminiscent of Futurist dynamism markings or perhaps a draftsman's study of dimensions. A gelatinous blue form intersects the balanced rectangles, while further blue forms tumble out of a fanned series of black triangles. Shapiro has assembled mechanism, geometry, balance, fluid, solid and motion into this dynamic etching, which was published by Pace Prints...

By Joel Shapiro
Located in New York, NY
Joel Shapiro's post-minimalist work often references the human body, in a variety of poses, represented by geometric forms. In Untitled, 1992, a blue square is seated firmly atop a black rectangle, which has landed in a seeming haphazard manner within the view frame. The forms have light, sketchy lines around them, reminiscent of Futurist dynamism markings or perhaps a draftsman's study of dimensions. In the upper right, a series of these sketchy markings seem situated somewhere between motion and form. Shapiro has assembled mechanism, geometry, balance, fluid, solid and motion into this dynamic etching, which was produced by Pace Prints...

CORBAN WALKER
Dublin, Ireland, b. 1967
Corban Walker is an artist known for his investigations of perceptions of scale and architectural constructs.
Standing four-feet tall, the artist’s personal relationship between self and the built environment is fundamental to the way he defines and develops his work. Embracing concepts of both architecture and minimalism, Walker uses specific local and cultural philosophies to encourage viewers to reexamine the way they conceptualize, navigate, and interact with their surroundings.
The artist’s work is marked by carefully considered shifts in proportion and balance and is also distinguished by a diverse use of materials and media ranging from painting, drawing, photography, digital art, and sculpture to large-scale and site-specific installations.
