A truly spectacular work - a hand painted bird bowl by French-born, American Bauhaus-trained master ceramic artist, educator, and author Marguerite Wildenhain. The color, feel of the work, and radiant glaze are something to behold. Marguerite Wildenhain was born to a British mother and a German father. She lived in Germany during her formative years studying at the Berlin University of the Arts. Wildenhain later attended Bauhaus in Dornburg from 1919 to 1925. During her time at Bauhaus, Wildenhain studied alongside painters Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky and she worked closely with sculptor Gerhard Marcks and potter Max Krehan. In 1925, Wildenhain became the first woman to earn the Master Potter certification in Germany.
