Winter Horizon at Shatterford is an original painting by Claire Wiltsher. The thick texture of the paint coupled with the bold, bright colours make for a cheerful piece. Original Abstract Expressionist Painting.
Claire Wiltsher is the 2018 winner of the Artists and Illustrators magazine Artists of the year. Claire Wiltsher is a professional landscape painter working from her studio gallery in Lyndhurst, in the New Forest. Claire Wiltsher’s paintings capture the different weather and mood of land and sea. She states that “total recognition inhibits the imagination”. Claire Wiltsher has a Masters degree in Fine Art, and has exhibited in solo shows throughout Britain, as well as having been a finalist in many Competitions. She studied at Lancashire University as a mature student (1986-89). In 1988, she was a finalist in the Reader’s Digest young illustrators competition, and had already secured exhibitions before finishing her degree. The art critic Edward-Lucie Smith chose her work to be exhibited at Olympia at an International Fair. Most of the work was sold, allowing her to embark upon a new journey travelling to Indonesia. Claire Wiltshire...

Dawn of a New Day, Moody Landscape Painting, Dartmoor Sky, Abstract Oil Painting
By Sophie Berger
Located in Deddington, GB
A gold-leaf landscape painting by Sophie Berger. This original oil painting on canvas board has the depth and moodiness of a Dartmoor sky as well as the vivid sunshine hiding beneath the clouds. This is captured by the iridescent glory of the gold leaf. When the viewer is moving around the room the reflection on the gold leaf changes the whole painting as it glows and reflects. Based on the ever changing skies in Devon where Sophie lives and works.
New original artwork by artist, Sophie Berger is available with Wychwood Art in their gallery and online. Sophie Berger's recent work has been greatly influenced by her move to Devon and a new found love of the Dartmoor. She often sketches on the north moors and in Skaigh woods, taking in the mood of the sky, rolling hills and streams or concentrating on the intricate twisted branches and roots of the bracken. Sophie Berger's next stage is to recapture these sketches using oil paint when back at the studio in Kigbeare, thereby creating a strong connection between her work and the landscape. The changeable, moody landscapes...

"Five in Fall Color" Expressionist Landscape Painting of Colorful Red Trees
By Marshall Noice
Located in Baltimore, MD
Marshall Noice passionately admires western landscapes, and conveys that love through vibrant colors that illuminate his compositions. Residents of New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Noice’s home state of Montana may relate to the magnificent landscape he’s portraying in his luscious works. While painting is a natural form of expression for Noice, he began his artistic career as a photographer. In fact, he earned his living taking pictures for 23 years. Some of the work was figurative, but most of it was landscape photography. During the summer of 1977 he had the extreme privilege of being Ansel Adams’ workshop assistant, an experience that profoundly affected his life. It happened at an auspicious time when Noice was just getting into photography. “I learned how to see light from Ansel Adams,” he explains. “Adams was a great teacher. I really learned how to recognize landscapes through photography. I feel that my experience in photography has helped me to develop a heightened sensibility toward landscapes.”
Throughout the two decades Noice worked as a photographer, he painted landscapes. Painting was done for the sheer enjoyment of it and not for the thought of future sales. When a new work was completed, he put it into a storage shed...
