Peter Tereszczuk Furniture

Peter Tereszczuk was an important Austrian-Ukrainian sculptor working in Vienna and known for his expressive and naturalistic Art Nouveau bronze sculptures. Born in 1875 in Wybudow, Ukraine then part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, Tereszczuk moved to Vienna to study sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule from 1893–99 under Hermann Klotz. He lived and worked in Vienna at Zollergasse 43, the section of the city famous for its foundries and created fine bronze figural groups and sculptures in the Art nouveau style. His work is distinctive in style, often sentimental and with intriguing and contemplative expressions; the figures often with ivory faces and hands. Tereszczuk also created beautiful objects of art such as desk sets and table lamps. At the start of his career, following some time as a professor in Bohemia, he began an association with a Viennese artist by the name of Ulrich and some of his works from this period are stamped with the foundry mark ‘TU’. More commonly his works were cast by the important Viennese foundry belonging to Arthur Rubenstein and are stamped ‘AR’. His most important works in bronze were made in the years 1895–1925 in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco style. Following the 2nd World War, he concentrated his efforts on restoration, including works at the Rochus Church and the Vienna Belvedere. In his later years, Tereszczuk returned to wood carving and painting often of religious themes. He died in Vienna in 1963.

Art Deco Figurine Table Lamp Bronze Lady Sculpture, French, circa 1930
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930. The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support. The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used . This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above. The lamp is in full working order. This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked. Overall a beautiful original Art Deco Lady Figurine...

By Peter Tereszczuk
Located in Vienna, AT
Gorgeous Vienna bronze table lamp created by famous bronze sculptor Peter Tereszczuk (1875 - 1963) made circa 1910-1915. There are two sculptured figurines visible: both are walking whereas the man embraces woman's hip. The couple is dressed in most elegant rococo style. Additionally, they are attached to round bronze base from which the bronze table lamp is growing out. Referring lamp has an elegant lampshade made of violet-blue-rose red iridescent bohemian glass. Impression of mentioned bronze figurines is of stunning liveliness (the details are excellently sculptured)! Finally, woman's face and cleavage as well as man's face are made of ivory. Signature 'P.Tereszczuk' is visible at edge of round base (backside) / the referring letters (characters) are well visible.
