Between 1937–39, he collaborated with the weekly publication Omnibus, directed by Leo Longanesi, and worked with the artist Mino Maccari, who realized scathing satirical comic strips for Omnibus. FRANCES H. GEARHART and Sisters (THE GEARHARTS) FRUIT FOR SALE c.1928 Color block print. Unsigned. This is an original block print from “Let’s Play”, an intended but unpublished children’s book done in collaboration with her sisters Edna and May in 1928. Image 8 x 7 inches. On a tissue thin laid paper. Irregular sheet 9 3/8 x 8 1/2. The entire series consisted of over 20 children's images. There were very few printed. The editions of the various children varied but likely no more than 50. This impression very well printed with good colors, Very good condition. The margins are likely as issued with the irregular edges. The margins and paper used for this series varies from one print to the next. A bit of tape remnants at top center sheet edge. A very nice example of this print. It is not unusual for impressions of this series to be unsigned, although many are signed "The Gearharts" The Provenance of this example is fascinating. It was acquired from a gentleman who knew the Gearharts as a child in the early 50's in Pasadena. It was part of a collection given to him by Frances. In his adult years he was in the military and took the collection with him as he traveled around Europe, After 81 years, based on the original prints, this book was published by the “California Book...

Flying High - Female Nude in Interior - by Paula Craioveanu - original art
By Paula Craioveanu
Located in Forest Hills, NY
Flying High - original unique female nude drawing. Part of my Blue Nude series, inspired by Matisse. Ultramarine tempera on paper. Shipped rolled in a tube, directly from the artist's studio. Shipping anywhere in the world, flat rate. Registered airmail. Artist Statement "I started by painting interiors, being interested in space and perspective through my studies. These scenes evolved, when I added the human figure. I focused more on the human figure and its relation to the background. The human figure is more present than ever in my paintings now. As a woman artist I’ve been preoccupied with the female form and its imagery. One of my goals was to capture the solitary moments and the nude’s relation to the surrounding space. My interest turned from depicting the space to rendering the atmosphere and the scene as a whole, the feeling a woman adds to the environment: warmth, desire, joy, a feeling of power and control, or the opposite – sadness, despair. Here is a collection of figurative paintings, exploring the nudes in interior spaces, seeing the nudes from my perspective, as a woman artist, considering the physical and spiritual realities of a woman’s body, in a new level of intimacy. My paintings are the opposite of objectifying a woman’s or a man’s anatomy. Painted works, featuring female nudes and a also men nudes...

Angor Vhat.
By Elyse Ashe Lord
Located in Storrs, CT
Angor Vhat. 1930. Woodcut and drypoint printed in colors. 11 x 13 (sheet 15 7/8 x 16 7/8). Edition 75, # 22. A bright, colorful impression printed on Japanese mulberry paper, with an irregular bottom margin. Signed and numbered in pencil. Housed in a 18 3/8 4 x 19 1/2-inch archival mat, suitable for framing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elyse Ashe Lord was a British artist and illustrator who worked in watercolors and drypoint etching. She studied at the Heatherley School of Art in Chelsea. The first public exhibition of her work was in 1919. Her drawings were exhibited at the Brook Street Gallery in 1921.[ In 1922 she became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. Various large exhibitions of her works were held during her lifetime. Her images typically draw on the Art Deco movement and ideas of Oriental culture, despite the fact that she never visited the Far East. She was a popular artist, even during a time period when the art market, and decorative arts particularly, was suffering from the economic crisis of the 1930s. She lived in Bexley in Kent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Angkor Wat, in its beauty and state of preservation, is unrivaled. Its mightiness and magnificence bespeak a pomp and a luxury surpassing that of a Pharaoh or a Shah Jahan, an impressiveness greater than that of the Pyramids, an artistic distinctiveness as fine as that of the Taj Mahal. Angkor Wat is located about six kilometers (four miles) north of Siem Reap, south of Angkor Thom...
