RISK Art

American, b. 1067
Kelly Graval, the multi-talented fine artist, illustrator and graffiti artist known as "RISK" has been synonymous with the Los Angeles art community for decades. With a career spanning 30 years, Risk has solidified his place in the history books as world renowned graffiti legend, He has come a long way since he pioneered the painting of freeway overpasses, signs and billboards, dubbed "heavens". Although Risk loves aerosol art, he sees it as merely one genre in life's work. From his days as a student at the USC School of Fine Arts to gallery and museums exhibits around the globe, Risk has transformed from a street artist to a rising star in the contemporary art world. Risk's works are a cross-section of color field painting, light and space conceptualism and finish fetish sensibilities. Experimental methods exploit transparent aspects of kandy and pearl paint utilizing hi-tech materials, from California car and surf culture while staying true to his adaptive graffiti roots, recycling or repurposing materials all the same. Risk's work is a constant juxtaposition of advanced color theory, The work depicts an ethereal Yin and Yang quality visually and conceptually. Risk applies paint to his surfaces in multiple layers of various techniques starting with graffiti and ending with fine sprayed lacquer or resins over vintage candy, metal flake and pearl car paints. The finished product evokes emotion as the coats of atmospheric colors and gradations are trapped between the layers of lacquers and pearls. The end result is a dynamic, well-balanced and organized chaos.

About RISK: RISK (Kelly Graval) (b. 1967) was one of the first artists to exhibit graffiti and street art in galleries. With a background in fine art, Graval has a style defined by cleanly executed lettering paired with graphic imagery and architectural lines. He has participated in a number of street art crews, most famously West Coast Artists (WCA) and the Seventh Letter. In the course of his nearly 30-year career, Graval has become one of the most influential figures for subsequent generations of graffiti artists, particularly in Los Angeles. He is also considered one of the first artists to have painted on freight trains, as well as a pioneer of “painting in the heavens”—a graffiti term referring to highly elevated surfaces like billboards, rooftops, and overpasses. Kelly "RISK" Graval has been synonymous with the Los Angeles art community for over 30 Years. From his early days as a founder of the West Coast Graffiti movement to gallery and museum exhibits around the globe, including the 2012 "Art In The Streets" at the LA MoCA and the hugely successful “Beyond The Streets” exhibits in Los Angeles and New York. His work is shown at top galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, New York, Miami, and London. 10 Things to Know About Risk 1. He was knighted by the Medici Family 2. He was the first artist invited to paint in Michael Angelos studio in over 400 years 3. He was the first West Coast artist to paint the N.Y. Subway Trains. During summer break from high school in 1987, he hitchhiked to New York to paint Subway trains. He spent a few weeks painting trains, tunnels, and streets. He gained attention and met many of his inspirations including Lee Quinones, and Henry Chaflant 4. He was the first to paint freight trains on the West Coast and started the freight train movement. He was also the first to paint a top to bottom freight. 5. He was the first to paint freeway overpasses and signs. This later became dubbed heavens by his crewmates Wisk and Ser who went on to dominate freeway signs throughout Los Angeles. 6. He was the the first to paint full-color pieces and productions on the freeway creating the Los Angeles freeway movement 7. He won the world Graffiti Championship with partner Slick in England held in 1989 8. After winning the National Scholastics Arts Award in High School, he received scholarships to Savannah School of Arts and Design, as well as Pasadena Arts Center. He was very active in the streets and struggled to commit to school. He was arrested multiple times and spent a short stint in Los Angeles County Jail. He ended up attending the University Of Southern California Fine Arts. Risk finished art at USC despite being kicked out for painting a mural on the roof of the Fine Arts Department. He was later reinstated with a scholarship. The University went on to make a post of the mural and sent it to every High School in the United States. 9. Risk worked with too many Hollywood personalities, bands, and artist peers to mention, including Ice Cube, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janes Addiction, Guns and Roses, Michael Jackson, and many more. Aerosmith quotes, "Risk is to graffiti what Aerosmith is to Rock and Roll." Collaborated with Ed Moses, Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Blade, Lee, Futura, Robbie Conal 10. Risk helped pioneer streetwear with his iconic Third Rail Streetwear line. The brand was incredibly successful and lasted 18 years until Risk walked away from it and sold it on his daughter's 1st Birthday...

Love Fest - Colorful Hearts Bold Original Pop Artwork
By Amber Goldhammer
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles artist Amber Goldhammer paints dramatic abstract compositions in acrylic on canvas featuring energetic brushstrokes. Goldhammer uses her contemporary paintings to express emotions akin to silent poetry while drawing inspiration for her palette from the layered world around her. Her artworks include layered textures and playful details along the surfaces. This original graffiti-inspired painting measures 30 inches high by 24 inches wide. The sides are painted grey and it does not require framing. It is wired and ready to hang. This painting is signed and titled by the artist on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Amber Goldhammer is best known for creating vibrant abstract paintings with a street art edge. She originally started painting with pigments, powders, and waxes and went on to experiment with different mediums and processes to keep evolving her artworks. As love and joy are paramount emotions in life, Goldhammer hopes her series incorporating the “I Love You” message expands to reach a wide audience. Connecting people through public art is one way she believes her street murals can impact lives, as it is impossible to view her work and not feel a sense of joy and love. Painting a convergence of color and emotion, she builds and layers bold colors organically, allowing the process to determine the outcome. There is no analyzing, conceptualizing, or judging that takes place. It all happens in the moment, as a union between her, the canvas, and the paint. Amber Goldhammer frequently draws inspiration for her palette from the colors of the ocean, saying, “I get to take in the essence of the ocean every day, which fuels my creativity and brings me peace.” Embracing a profound love for existence unveils a world adorned with beauty at every turn. When one's heart is entwined with the sheer joy of life, the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary, and the mundane becomes a canvas of boundless inspiration. This sentiment resonates eloquently in the captivating artworks by Amber Goldhammer. Within her original creations, positivity takes center stage, as vibrant hues dance harmoniously to convey a celebration of life. Hearts and declarations of love, intricately painted onto the canvas, serve as visual affirmations of the artist's unwavering affection for the world. Each stroke tells a story of optimism, inviting viewers to share in the enchanting journey where love and art converge to create a tapestry of uplifting emotions. Amber Goldhammer's works are not just paintings; they are vibrant expressions of a love affair with life itself. A worldwide collected young artist with ongoing concurrent exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States and Switzerland, Goldhammer's artworks have also been exhibited at major international art fairs. Her original paintings have been showcased in print and online publications and on such TV series as “Million Dollar Listing,” “Being Mary Jane,” “The Catch” as well as both multi-Emmy® nominated series, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, and “Scandal.” Goldhammer’s art is also featured on Netflix’s original series, “G.L.O.W.” by “Weeds” creator, Jenji Kohan. Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Amber Goldhammer's original artworks since 2011. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of affordable original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards.
