Serena Confalonieri Furniture
Serena Confalonieri is an Italian independent designer and art director, based in Milan, Italy. She works on product, graphic and textile design projects and collaborates with many Italian and international companies. Confalonieri's works are placed in-between product and graphic design, with accurate research on the surfaces always present in her projects. After securing a master’s degree in interior design, she started her career working in many architectures and design practices in Milan, Barcelona and Berlin and collaborating with the Interior Design Faculty of Politecnico di Milano, as an assistant professor. Confalonieri has been selected for design residencies and workshops in Italy and abroad, including in New York, Mexico and Portugal. Her works have been published by important newspapers and magazines, such as The New York Times, Corriere della Sera, Il sole 24 ore, Wallpaper, Interni, Ottagono, L’Officiel, Elle Decor and won prizes, such as a Special Mention at the Young & Design Awards 2014 and the German Design Awards, 2016.

Island is a collection made up of three poufs with organic forms that evoke the coast line lapped by the sea. This imagery is felt throughout the entire design, conjuring the enveloping movement of the tide which softens and shapes the shore. For this reason, the volumes are perceived differently depending on the perspective from which they are observed in a space. The base visually elevates the seat from the ground making it seem like it’s floating in space.

gular elements, which visually refer to the Japanese art
of origami.
This recourse to geometric repetition is further high-
lighted through the creation of an embossed linear
texture which, on the surface, generates further ge-
ometries, while, on the legs, it leads to different front
and back of the surface, just like a sheet of paper.

private homes, living and sleeping areas,

The choice of materials is aimed to emphasise this inspiration behind the collection. The metal base structures are available in several variants each of which corresponds to a geometric form. Like in jewellery design, the glass tops in transparent or light colours are literally set onto the base structures.

nieri for Medulum consists of 3 wooden coffee tables.
The pieces are characterized by the repetition of trian-
gular elements, which visually refer to the Japanese art
of origami.
This recourse to geometric repetition is further high-
lighted through the creation of an embossed linear
texture which, on the surface, generates further ge-
ometries, while, on the legs, it leads to different front
and back of the surface, just like a sheet of paper.
Various heights and sizes allow this coffee
table collection to be placed both inside
private homes, living and sleeping areas,
and in public and hospitality facilities.

Island is a collection made up of three poufs with organic forms that evoke the coast line lapped by the sea. This imagery is felt throughout the entire design, conjuring the enveloping movement of the tide which softens and shapes the shore. For this reason, the volumes are perceived differently depending on the perspective from which they are observed in a space.
