About Sara Story Design

Since founding her eponymous design firm, Sara Story has forged a reputation for imparting to all of her projects an ineffable style she can truly call her own. Drawing inspiration from extensive travels, an active interest in contemporary art and fashion, and a rigorous lifestyle, Sara wields a keen eye to exact her aesthetic vision: crisp, elegant, and comfortable gestures that thoughtfully balance multiple elements of good design for an everyday, polished life.

Always dynamic, the firm continues to work on residential and commercial projects worldwide and maintains several successful product collaborations, including wallpaper and hardware.

The first monograph of Sara’s interiors, The Art of Home, will be published by Rizzoli, launching in the fall of 2023.

Sara earned a B.F.A. from the University of San Diego and a degree in Interior Architecture from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Critical acclaim of her townhouse renovation at Gramercy Park propelled Sara onto the design world's radar, and Elle Décor named Sara one of the "Top 5 to Watch." NY Spaces named her to the Top 50 Designers in New York. In 2019 one of the firm’s residential projects was named to The 1stdibs 50, and as a finalist in Interior Design’s Best of the Year Awards. 2020 and 2022 saw the firm named to the LUXE Gold List. 2023 saw the firm designated as an Architectural Digest AD Pro.

Sara and her projects have been recognized in Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Galerie, LUXE, Aspire, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times to name a few.

Sara is a supporter and former Board Member of Ballroom Marfa, a contemporary art space in Marfa, Texas, with a focus on allowing freedom of artistic expression through culturally impactful art. She is also an active member of the Artemis Council of the New Museum, the America's Society and the Design Leadership Network. In 2023 she will introduce an artist residency program based in Center Point, Texas, as a means to further the town’s revitalization program by drawing in rigorous art and culture, including educational programs, to the community.

For a woman who is a two-time marathon finisher, New York and San Diego, the bounds are limitless.
