1970s Jean Damien Couture Black Velvet Metallic Duster Coat

About the Item

A show-stopper of a jacket, this late 1960s to early 1970s duster coat is the perfect throw-on finish to your party look. A substantial, weighty piece of tailoring, it has been created from thick 100% cotton black velvet woven with stripes of metallic tinsel-like thread. Two concealed side pockets are located to the centre front. It is lined with stiff grosgrain cloth and matte silk. High slits in the side seams add to the theatricality of this beautiful piece, which swings as the wearer walks. The coat falls to around mid-calf, or under the knee if you are taller. A label hidden under the arm reads “Jean Damien 90 Faub. Saint Honoré Paris”. This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no noticeable flaws. Due to the oversize nature of the design and generous fabric, the coat could be considered unisex and will fit a range of sizes from UK 10-16, US 6-12 or medium. Just fabulous quality French couture!
